First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR to everybody. I haven't updated this for a while mainly because nothings really been going on and because I just get lazy.

Classes begin on Wednesday, so my winter break is pretty much over. All I did this break was relax and tried to get an early start on next quarter. I pretty much planned out my classes for the next two years; hopefully I'll be able to stay on track and actually follow my schedule. I'm still planning to stay a CSE major and I wanted to pick up a minor in Sociology or Psychology. I think I'll be able to pull it off. I ended up not passing my CSE class, so I'm going to have to retake it this quarter if I'm going to stay a CSE major. I decided I might as well start now, so I've gotten about half-way through the things we covered in class and ended up with about 50 pages of notes and 2 of 5 lab exams coded and working. Along with learning java, I've also been messing around with html/CSS and photoshop and I'm learning things little by little. So pretty much I'm making the transition from part time computer geek to full time computer geek. Oh well.

I guess its that time again to make new years resolutions. I think I've never kept any of the new years resolutions I've made because a few weeks into the year, I either forget about them or I just give up. Maybe this year will be different. Neways here they are:

1. Gain and maintain a 3.0 gpa - My grades 1st quarter weren't all too great, so this is the first thing on my list. I need to look it up, but I think I need a 3.0 by the end of the school year in order to keep my scholarships, so there's another reason.

2. Stop procrastinating - I've had this as a new years resolution for the past couple of years, but I never kept it. Who knows, this year maybe the year.

3. Learn java, JavaScript, html/CSS, and photoshop - Java is pretty obvious since I'm going to be using it for most of my intro CS classes and I'll probably use it in the future, as for the others, I've just been meaning to work with them more for my own personal gain. I know I can't learn everything about them, so I just want to get to the point where I can honestly say I know java, JavaScript, html/CSS, and photoshop.

4. Create/redesign my site from scratch - Using the stuff I learned from #3, I want create my own website. Blogger's design is great, but I want to make something I can call my own.

5. Build new and strengthen friendships - Kind of self explanatory, but it's just something I want to do.

6. Read a book over 250 pages - Yes you read that right. I've actually never read a book over 250 pages in my life, yet still made it into UCI. I'm not really sure what I want to read yet, but I'll let you know when I figure it out.

7. Switch to Linux - Okay, this one's a longshot, but I've been meaning to do this for a while. I've tried using linux by means of knoppix and I really liked it. The only problem is the learning curve of a new OS and I'm going to need to buy a few things for my laptop (mainly an external hard drive).

Guess that's it. I know it's a long post, but oh well. I'm going back to Irvine tomorrow, but I just found out I-5 is closed at the grapevine due to snow, so I'm looking for alternate routes. Hopefully I'll be able to make it back in one piece. L8er.
